Kerry, as I recall, you had to set up all kinds of OB and mandos at Freeman last year to beat us Poky folks. While I don't debate the fact that you are the greatest Chinese disc golfer in Southeastern Idaho, I do wonder if you could beat us playing th course straight. We'll have to see as the year progresses. _________________ God is happiest when His children are at play, so PLAY. |

I haven't beat Kerry at freeman in a good while.
And if I can't beat him he must be freaking amazing. _________________ Look at the size of that pill, I can't swallow that.

I think a lot of the frustration with the gold course comes from the fact that no other tournament in the region uses OB lines and many golfers simply failed to adapt their shots or employ any type of strategy.
I recall seeing group after group continue to throw stable discs off of 15 depite the factt hat anything that faded was OB. there was a ton of room on the right, A TON. but few people threw forehand or threw roadrunners. there was a country mile of open space but people stuck to their usual shots. sad.
Also not everyone is adept at dealing with Island holes, mentally that is. probably 90% of regular disc golfers land inthe circle on hole 1 90% of the time, but if you actually draw in the circle and require you to hit it....it is a different story. MENTAL.
I liked freeman gold. you had to use a little more strategy, that should be a part of the game. Even that beefcake guy had to short a couple holes or risk OB. I think everyone benefitted from that. _________________ Look at the size of that pill, I can't swallow that.

I loved Freeman Gold. I thought it was great. No frustration about the course here. (Frustration with my game on that course, perhaps) I agree that folks did not adapt very well to the new lines required by the OB.
I'm with Mook, I'd like to have some revenge on that course. (Although, I did not play hole 4 the same way Mook did) _________________ God is happiest when His children are at play, so PLAY. |

| Well...according to the new PDGA island rules, I would have had 7 strokes less on that hole! |

| Freeman gold was AWESOME!!! I thought playing that course with all the mandos made it way more interesting. I hate to admit it again but I did take like a 12 on one hole and was OB on a few others. I personally would love another chance to get some revenge. |

I'd like to do Freeman Gold again with the new island rule, which I think counts each throw to land safe but does not give a penalty stoke for missing the island. Someone should really look that up.
This year I would probably open up #15 a bit. Run the OB tape to the pine on the left and then to the pine in the middle. It might be tougher than the original version, though because the temping backhand dump shot could skip ob and a lay up there still requires the next shot to carry more ob or swing hard right to get on the other side of the other pine.
I admit that the layout is an advantage to how I like to play the course. I encourage all TD/Co-TD's to be equally selfish. I have to say, though that there was a fair and reasonable play available on every hole.
That being said, I am always open to a bit of friendly wagering on a wide open round at Freeman Regular. Just to warn you- try not to be pushing a bunch of skins into #18. My discs like to skip. |
