| In a recent post, Casey mentioned a Fundraiser called a "Japan Open." In which you would play with a 150 class disc. Which one disc would you choose? which Optional "Sake" would be prefered? Lol |

The way a 150-class Japan open style tourney would work would be as many discs as you want, as long as they are 150-class. It is not a one disc tourney, as far as I know. Mr. Locke, feel free to correct me if I am wrong. _________________ God is happiest when His children are at play, so PLAY. |

| The way I understand it in The Japan Open you can carry and use any disc as long as its a 150 class. I would throw a tbird if I was limited to using just one disc. |

| I guess I need to re-phrase the question. What discs would you carry if you were to play this tournament? A single disc wasnt what I ment. |

I could beat you all with my One Fiddy ( it's not "150 class")Champ Leopard. As long as it is at Freeman. And there is no wind. And I don't have to putt.
Take that.

I wasn't thinking of doing this as a one-disc only tournament. It'd be just like the Japan Open, use as many as discs as you want to, as long as they're all 150 class. I believe that this means 151g or less, including putters. I'll have to do a little research on that to make sure.
Unfortunately I'll probably scrap the sake idea, causes more headaches as than necessary. |

I only have 5 pieces of plastic that even qualify.
Tbird
Leopard
Valk
Dragon
Stingray
So...short of buying more plastic, which I am not opposed to, that would have to do. |

I can guarantee that many people will disagree with me entirely on this one, but a Wraith or an Orc have been pretty reiable for a new Tomahawker. I think Kemmerer throws a Wraith a lot. I know some guys who love throwing Starfires overhand as well.
Simply, the more understable adiscs is, the faster it tends to flip over in a tomahawk. Similarly, the more overstable it is, the slower it'll flip. Good luck. _________________ God is happiest when His children are at play, so PLAY. |

I'm still fairly new to throwing hammers, but I agree with most of what austin says. I've had great luck with my understable discs. Such as: 164 star wraith, 172 star wraith and 168 champ monarch.
Casey K would recommend an EPIC. Amazing to watch him throw that. |

| I like to use a more overstable disc for my hammers and thumbers. I have a lot more control when I use them. Right now I am using a Monster. |

I normally use a 170-175 wraith or an x-cal for my hammer throws the only reason i use an epic is to get the disc to fade the other way. The way i throw it my tommy fades like an back hand and the epic will fade like a fore-hand. There you go good luck you big arms!!! |

So based on all the responses you are probably thinking you still have no idea what to throw. I personally throw a firebird or a monster. I would not throw 150 class to answer your original questions. I would take your bag and throw at a football field. Throw all the discs you have except mid ranges or putters and figure out which one gives you the best distance without sacrificing accuracy. Keep in mind that the purpose of the hammer is typically to get out of a tough situation or on some shorter tight holes it gives you the option of looking for an alternate root. The hammer needs to be accurate to be effective. No need to throw it 4 hundred feet. I would try to throw 225 feet to 300 feet accurately. Their is my two cents. _________________ See you on the course!
