I have an idea I would like to put out there for the club to think about.
I've always thought it would be cool to have a club video specialist to go to events and film the players and happenings and then at the end of the year have a "year in review" video with commentary etc.. I think this would build cameraderie and a sense of club unity as well as the opportunity to get everyone together to have a few laughs. '
What do you think? |

I think a video would be cool... but i was also thinking before we do a video it might be a cool idea to have some kind of logo or stamp that we could use for Club T-Shirts, Hoodies, or Disc Stamps. I just thought it would kind of bring the club together a bit and if players wore them to tournaments maybe it would bring us some recognition/ respect. I just noticed that the NUDGA and Team Over the Top guys stand out more as a unit than we do. I'm sure with all the computer savy and artistic people in the club we could come up with something.
This was just my idea. we can try to run with it, or just forget about it |

I think it's a good idea James. I will talk to my bro. in law Danny and see if he can come up with anything. He did the IFO logo of the basket being chopped in half by a flying disc.
Does anyone have any ideas of what should be on the logo? Like a bengal or cliffs or..... what. |

This is right in line with the direction I wanted to take the club as I mentioned in a previous post. We are going to vote to change the name of the club this winter. I want to have a name that encompasses all of east Idaho and a mascot. Devin made me a cool lizard logo 4 years ago but it looked more like a gecko (actually my fault) instead of a east Idaho lizard. But I think a lizard would be really cool. If any has an idea for a new club name that would be great too. Mindy Clark is in graphic design as well. I think we need to wait on the name change before we design a logo.
As far as the club name goes, the East Idaho Chain Bangers has already been disqualified...due to minds in the gutters. |

I like it. Here some more ideas (some are a little more mainstream)
Idaho Disc Golf Team
East Idaho Disc Golf Association
East Idaho Flingers
Idaho Hurlers (yeah right)
East Idaho Up Chuckers (now we are talking)
Idaho Backhanders (there's a lawsuit)
Come one guys, more suggestions!!
I don't know. I would like it to be creative, yet, not discourage anyone to join because of the name. Chain Gang is cool but it might stear some people away. |

Not sure if you guys care about my opinion but I will share it anyway since, at one time, I was a part of disc golf down there. First off, I do like the PVDGC name but I understand why you would want to make it more encompassing. I like the sounds of East (or Eastern) Idaho Disc Golf Club (or Association). I like the word club better than association because to me it sounds less exclusive. The Spokane Disc Golf Association seems a little more closed off to outsiders than do the Garden City Flyers Disc Golf Club in my mind - I do realize that it is just my perception though.
A few years ago some guys in north Idaho tried to start the North Idaho Disc Golf Association, or NIDGA for short. I hated the way NIDGA read and it just seemed too excusive to me. That club kinda went away once one of the original co-founders closed his disc golf business. Once my dad purchased the business from him we have been trying to revive the club under a new name - the North Idaho Recreators Disc Golf Club and it has been very well received. We went with the name "Recreators" as kind of a double meaning. A lot of us up here play the Wreckreator course at Farragut and the fact that disc golf is just a good recreation activity, plus we thought our spelling of recreators was a little more appropriate for a club who will be going after business support. We also didn't want to be just exclusive to Post Falls or Coeur d'Alene, we also wanted to include Sandpoint and any other surrounding areas that might someday install a course. I have long heard rumors about Rathdrum and Hauser getting courses and we want to include citizens of those cities as well. Good luck with the re-naming and remember to ask yourself what a business would think of the name when you go in to ask them for support of your club. _________________ ScottW

How about the "Spud Chuckers"
Or the "Sage Brush Disc Golf Association"
I discovered saturday that we may want to steer away from a club name has an acronym that is at all pronouncable. This is merely an aesthetic argument, but if we go into a potential sponsor or business partner and say we are from the Portnuef valley disc golf club, there is some respect because it sounds legitimate. If we go in and say we are from the EIDGA and pronounce it as a word, we lose some level of professionality. Something to keep in the back of your mind before deciding on a new name and consequently, a new acronym.

That was one of the points that I was trying to make in my last post about the now defunct NIDGA and why we changed it to the NIRDGC. NIDGA sounds awful when you say it and that was one reason I hated it and wanted to change it to something that is not even worth pronouncing. EIDGC would do that, while EIDGA would not so much. _________________ ScottW

Taking what Austin started in his last post here's a couple more name ideas: Sagebrush and Dirt DGC (since that's what southeastern Idaho is), or the Wind Riders DGC since it's always so friggin' windy down there , eh _________________ ScottW
