Here is some info on the 2009 Ice Bowl. I will get a page up officially by this weekend. Following the announcement, I have a list of things I need help with if any of you would desire to help out.

What: The "Rip And Dip Charity Ice Bowl" which is part of the
Lava Fire And Ice Winter Festival

18 Holes Of Winter Disc Golf followed by a soak in the the hot pools to benefit the Idaho Food Bank.

Cost is $20 per person plus a minimum of 5 cans of food or 5 items from the Idaho Food Bank Suggested donations list which can be found at

Registrants will receive a 2009 Ice Bowl stamped Innova DX disc and a free pass to Lava Hot Pools (limited to the first 30 entrants)

When: February 7th, 2009. Registration starts at 9:00am and play begins at 10:00am.

Where: Lava Hot Springs, ID. Registration and tournament central will be located at the Olympic Swimming Pool lobby.

Tournament Schedule

9:00am: Registration Opens
10:00am: 9 holes at Lava Lion's Club Park Disc Golf Course
11:30am: Hot Chocolate Break
12:00pm: 9 holes at Lava Hot Springs Disc Golf Course (located around swimming pool)
2:00pm: Awards ceremony
Afterwards: Late Lunch at one of Lava's finest restaurants (if we can find one with a kid's menu) followed by soaking in Lava Hot Pools.

Other Details:
-There will be 2 CTP's (1 at each course) that are included with registration.
-Ace Pot will be available at $1 an entry. If no aces are hit, then the ace pot will be donated to the Idaho Food Bank.
-Four Divisions offered (all $20 plus donated food)
--Advanced
--Intermediate
--Beginner
--Women's
--Any other division's can be created if demand is needed.
-All divisions will be paid out in 2009 Ice Bowl merchandise (which includes full color Star Ontario Rocs and the Discraft Buzz)
-Top food donaters will compete in a playoff for extra prizes!
-Please bring warm clothes for playing disc golf as there tends to be more snow in Lava Hot Springs than in Pocatello. Also, bring clothes appropriate for soaking in the Hot Pools.
-Contact TD Brad Merzlock or Assistant TD Brandon Merzlock for any questions.

Anything I missed?

I also need help with posting Ice Bowl flyers at Lava Hot Springs and Southeast Idaho Courses. I will have a pdf available by Sunday for you to print off and post for me.

I need some help to get there early on Saturday morning to shovel or make some sort of teepads available.

I need someone to tackle the hot chocolate. Buy it, bring it, and serve it. You will be reimbursed for the cost of materials by the TD.

I need someone to return the food donations back to the Pocatello Food Bank and get a receipt from them on the amount of food and money donated so we can return that to the National Ice Bowl HQ.

I can get the food back to the food bank. Also, I should be there early-ish so I can help shovel or set-up or whatever you need. I'll plan on being there at 8:00 ish.

Thanks guys. Yeah, bring a snow shovel if you have one and we will just have to play it by ear when we get there. You never know what the weather is going to do or be.
