I know a lot of folks have played the venerable course in boise. I played the whole thing for the first time sunday. I wanted to know what everyone shoots there. i know there are numerous layouts and options and two holes changed recently but...
I shot 55 when I was trying to find everything the came around again and shot 50. I was super happy. I actually hit six birds in round two but had an OB on 16 and a bogey on 14. It was the first time this year I putted and drove well at the same time. i even drove my putter well. |

So I'm resurrecting Lance's initial post about Ann Morrison to get anyone's thoughts. I had played the course a handful of times in the past. I was in Boise last week for work and managed to get in 30 holes before darkness set in. Now, I know I'm not a great player - average at best - but the course really seemed easy - and kind of blah. Everything was set up in the short pin placement - and I realized how flat that course is. It's actually a lot more wide open that I remember. I think I only had 2 bogeys for the day, ending up somewhere around 2 down. Maybe it's due to the local (Poky) courses having some elevation gain/loss and some narrow room for error, but I'd take two rounds at Ross or 18 at Bengal over Ann Morrison.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not bad mouthing Ann Morrison.
Given how I threw at Ross today, my opinion probably shouldn't count for much. But I wanted to see what others thought.

I kind of agree. I played most of the course again a few weeks ago. the first 9 were all mid range shots except one. all buzzz all the time I guess. then on the back I threw a driver for a handful of shots. Overall the water doesn't play all that much if you have the distance. It might kill a beginner though. Ross is definitely more technical and varied.
I do like the water factor though I wish it played more.
the longer holes play so open I can just lay into a driver, no problem. Even the trees that are there are still young- over the top and done. oh well.
Boiseans love their course and that's what matters.
I would expect to shoot under par most of the time. maybe 51-52 or so with a good round in the 49 range.
It is almost hard to bogey, because the obstacles are not that dense. _________________ Look at the size of that pill, I can't swallow that.

Lance,
Isn't it "all buzzz all the time" no matter how long the hole is? |

the buzzz has a 300' limit for me. I can throw it 320, but not with any accuracy.even on blackfoot 306' holes I hesitate a bit, then throw anyway. _________________ Look at the size of that pill, I can't swallow that.
