I think the automatic 7 rule isn't really a rule. not that I have a problem with doing that but there was a thread about it on the PDGA website not long ago.
at best if you could convince the group that you didn't know you didn't finish the hole you would get your score plus a bunch of penalty strokes. if you are late to a tourney you get par plus 4 until you show up. but on only 18? maybe.
summary: not finishing a hole on purpose is a DQ in a sanctioned tourney for attmepting to 'circumvent the rules' _________________ Look at the size of that pill, I can't swallow that.

| This was my fault for leading Troy astray on the not finishing a hole rule. I will take three lashings. And to think, I used to be a PDGA certified official!! |

just to clarify: I think it is fine in league if you are just sick of it, especially if you have to stay to hand out money.
In all likelihood a 7 is pretty fair to the night's score and the handicap. No reason to make yourself miserable. _________________ Look at the size of that pill, I can't swallow that.

Other than the 185mph winds on Tuesday, the weather was perfect. As you can see by my score, I used the wind to my advantage whenever possible. The highlight of the evening might have been Mook's 3 on 18 on a night that getting a five would be good. It was good to see Eric as he came out and joined us for the first time. Eric picked a sweet night to earn a handicap.
Needless to say, with Mook's score, he moved way up in points.
Lance had to play out quickly and take off so we were unable to get him his $5 winnings. I thought that I better just take the money and buy a six pack. The six pack was $8. The way I see it . . . Lance owes me $3.

That made me laugh. It's a good way to start a morning (with a laugh, not a sixer). Hopefully you bought some Hoegaarden with that 8 bucks....
I'll try to make it again sometime so's I can take advantage of my monster of a handicap.

| I got paid out $4.00, not 5. Which must mean my other dollar must have gone toward the six pack - therefore the way I see it Lance owes me a dollar as well. |

As far as the weather goes, Tuesday was probably our best night so far. Steve's handicap finally paid off and he ended up being the only one who did much of anything with handicap points.

Tuesday was another great night. No wind, great temperature. Steve is really starting to improve, thus taking advantage of his handicap. He moved up to 2nd in handicap points standings. Lance, the wiener, is still sitting up pretty high in the rankings despite not showing up for the last two weeks.
Thanks everyone for coming.

It is getting quite a bit hotter during league now. James had a great night and shot a 48. He's now moved to a pretty much unbeatable standing in raw points. Casey also had a very good night and accumulated a lot of points. If it weren't for James screwing up the average, a lot of us would received some good points. The points seem to be working themselves out so that at the end of the year, the more consistent attending players will get a payout whereas the ones who only came once but got decent points will not be included in the awards.
CTP on 19 went to James (three times in a row now). However, James was a kind soul and gave half of his CTP winnings to Wendell for the shot of the night. On the CTP throws, Wendell missed an ace by about 2 inches and then his disc proceeded to up and roll to Inkom.

Great turnout tonight! 11 people. By far the most that we have seen. Drew ended up being the biggest money winner with $10 and the overall biggest points gainer. James is still sitting well up on top for raw points standings and reasonably high in handicap points standings (but within striking distance). All in all. . . a great night throwing discs.
CTP on 19 went to James (again!- four times in a row). James was about 1-2 feet closer than Mook and he took home $10 (I think). Somebody has to beat James on CTP!
Also, take note of the end of year payout. It has surpassed $100 and is now at $109!

What would you all think if I started doubling the automatic points from 1 to 2 for the people that are showing up to League? This would be an attempt to end the season strong and to even things out for our regular attendees.
Also, I looked at doing a moving average (last three) to calculate handicap. At a glance, it really wouldn't change much for many people. There might be a few that it helps a little. However, the positive side of a total average for handicap is there is an asumption that scores will improve and you would be rewarded accordingly. On the other hand, those who improve their rounds are punished by a moving average. |

I am in favor of lots of participation points. anyone who comes out and finishes the course should be getting more than one point. Two minimum, three would even be fine with me.
I'm mildly opposed to moving averages because I need those bad weather weeks from a month ago to help me out.
Either way James is dominating. short of him having a loss of limb he's wrapped it up. _________________ Look at the size of that pill, I can't swallow that.

I think James would still dominate even with a loss of limb.
I'm in favor of both recommendations. Hope to make it out next week. |
