Announcement
The 2007 annual December meeting of the Portneuf Valley Disc Golf Club
will (finally) be held at 7:00 p.m. on February 28, 2008, at the
Newberry Building in Pocatello. Pizza and drinks will be served free of
charge. Families are welcome.
The Newberry Building is located at 150-190 North Main Street in
downtown Pocatello, Idaho. The most convenient and spacious parking is
found just East of the building in what is often called "Union Pacific"
or "railroad" parking lot. The meeting is upstairs in the conference
facilities (second floor). The entrance for and stairs to the
conference facilities is on the Northeast corner of the building, facing
East.
The club is badly in need of new leadership to carry it into the
future. Of primary import will be the election of new officers, at
least a President and a Treasurer. The new officers must be more
available than I have been this year in order for the club to function
properly. As proven by the lack of activity this year, it is paramount
that we elect someone genuinely interested in and available for the job
of leading the club. All 2007 or 2008 voting members will be eligible
to vote. Any person may become a voting member at the meeting by paying
$10 dues for 2008. The rules of the voting are set forth in the club
bylaws and will guide that portion of the program.
The club is inactive, but solvent. The new officers will receive an
organization that is financially healthy with a good inventory of
merchandise and established relationships with DG vendors.
The agenda for the meeting will include brief officer reports and league
business, followed by elections. The remainder of the meeting will be
conducted by the new officers, who will initiate the remaining agenda.
For questions, contact Steve Larsen 317-6667 or John Jemmett 226-4114 |

Team Kaya will be there- barring a major medical event.
Good job getting this up and going.
Is there roof access so we can have a longest drive off of the top of the building down main st?

One thing I should note, there is a no animal rule at the place we will be meeting. It wasn't in the announcement because we have never had anybody bring their dogs to a club meeting before, but hey there's always a first time.
Sorry Lance, no rooftop access to my knowledge.
If we were going to have a longest drive contest down main street, I would need you to first sign a LARGE insurance policy for the window damage you are in all probability would cause to one or more of the neighboring businesses (There are a couple trees missing in Upper Ross Park that I am sure you brought about with your skillz ) |

I don't know if it's on the agenda, but the Noon League ought to be discussed.
I managed the noon league last year. For most of the time we had Brady, John J., Brett Williams, Paul Wallentine and myself. I think it went OK, but week after week we always had the same people. It's become the one day a week that the AMIS (ON) folks get together to play. Nothing wrong with that, but more would be welcome.
I'd like to continue to support Noon League, but I would really like to pass the administrative torch on to someone else. I'm hoping that I'll be able to attend the meeting... -Cliff |

looks like Mook is prez. The support was unanimous. He has a pretty ambitious list of things to do. If we get them done disc golf in Pocatello/I.F. will be hopping.
I will be treasurer, for now. The club has a lot of discs and bags and such. email me for my phone # if you want to buy any from my home. Otherwise I plan to bring them to tournaments, and a selection to evening league.

Thanks for allowing me to be your leader this year. I hope to bring the club out of its "inactive, but solvent" state to a state of active and expanding. I really believe that, despite its name, the Portneuf Valley Disc Golf Club acts more as an Eastern Idaho Disc Golf Club. I am not proposing any name changes but we have an incredible opportunity to push disc golf to the next level with new courses possible to open this year at Massacre Rocks State Park and Lava Hot Springs (yes, Lava Hot Springs).
Besides those two course installments, club meetings, and newsletters, my responsibilities will not be much more than I have taken on the past year running club sponsored tournaments. That is why we need your help!
I would like to thank the past officers Steve Larsen and John Jemmett of 2007 (John for longer). You guys have held this group together better than you think. John was very helpful with coordinating prizes and selling merchandise at tournaments last year. Also, thank you to our other new club officer Lance Clark for accepting an "on the spot" nomination for club treasurer. Thanks to Troy Kase and Brady Belnap for agreeing to run the Bengal Ridge Evening League and Noon League. As you can see, the club is alive and healthy and we have great support to carry us into this new disc golf season. We could very much use more help on course development and maintenance. We invite you to be a club member and enjoy the benefits therein. Come and join and leave your footprint in Southeast Idaho disc golf history.
